National Animal Genetic Bank (NAGB)
NAGB is focused on collecting available genomic samples from wild fauna of the Czech Republic and also data on other existing genomic samples, e.g. from finished research projects or samples stored in museums, which can come from all over the world. NAGB ensures their long-term quality preservation and provides data to a widely accessible database of these samples to make them available for (further) research and thereby aims to contribute also to effective species conservation.

Working visit of Norwegian partner in the Czech Republic
In connection to BIOM project, two Norwegian colleagues from Natural History Museum (NHM), University of Oslo (our project partner) visited our institutions on 17.–22. 11. 2015. Curators of NHM DNA Bank Prof. Arild Johnsen and Dr. Lars Erik Johannessen presented their experience concerning running genetic bank and its importance and use in research and biodiversity conservation at 3-day workshop (Genetic collections and biodiversity research and conservation; 18.–20. 11. 2015) which was organized within BIOM project at the Institute of Vertebrate Biology, the Czech Academy of Sciences (IVB CAS) in Studenec and Mohelský Mill. Dr. Johannessen presented the lecture „Norwegian experience with genetic biobanking: NHMO DNA Bank in Oslo” and Prof. Johnsen “Using genetic resources in biosystematic research: examples from NHMO DNA bank”. Discussions and consultations to presented topics continued during social evenings. Excursions to facilities of emerging National Animal Genetic Bank in the Czech Republic, which is being established at IVB CAS (Mohelský Mill Field Station) and at Faculty of Science, Charles University in Prague was included in program as well. Personal visit of our Norwegian colleagues contributed significantly to deepening the existing cooperation, provided experience for more effective founding of the genetic bank, and fostered establishment of new bilateral relations.
